VDA6.8 Process audit supply chain for logistics processes

The new VDA 6.8 Yellow Volume Part 8 has been published.

First Publication of the New VDA 6.8 Yellow Volume "Supply Chain Process Audit" for Logistics Processes

The new VDA 6.8 yellow volume has been available as of June 2024. This international quality standard aims to reduce risks throughout the supply chain. It serves to standardize, stabilize, optimize and safeguard logistics processes. Customer-specific requirements from OEMs, suppliers and logistics service providers were taken into account when creating this volume.

VDA 6.8 fills in the gap left by the omission of the service questions (Chapter 8) in VDA 6.3. It covers current topics such as information security and ESG requirements. In addition, the requirements of the Global MMOG/LE have been integrated so that VDA 6.8 and the Global MMOG/LE are similar in terms of content.

This volume is seamlessly embedded in the VDA 6.x family and focuses on the supply chain. The key features of VDA 6.8, subject to the yellow volume phase as opposed to the official red volume phase, include

• Focus on supply chain processes
• Application of the Turtle system for the entire questionnaire
• Structured analysis of the processes
• Established evaluation system
• Identification of a critical path with clear downgrading rules
• Identification of special risks in the supply chain (so-called "* questions")
• Clear presentation of the results of the process evaluation (A, B or C)
• Global comparability of the results for supply chain processes
• Potential analysis to assess the suitability of new suppliers/service providers before awarding contracts
• Self-assessment for internal evaluation and exchange with customers

The VDA 6.8 process audit is part of a company's QM system and can contribute to fulfilling the requirements of VDA 6.2. It is an integral part of the VDA 6.x family and focuses on the supply chain.
