Purpose and Application of the CQI-37 Guideline

The 1st edition of the AIAG CQI-37 was published in May 2020.

The North American automotive association AIAG (Automotive Industry Action Group) is the publisher of this guideline. CQI-37 is intended for companies that manufacture, use or source safety-critical materials or catalogue items.

The guideline provides a structured approach for identifying, assessing and managing safety-critical bulk materials and standard parts within the supply chain – with the objective of detecting potential risks at an early stage and ensuring long-term product safety.

CQI-37 supports organisations in systematically aligning OEM requirements and internal quality processes with safety-critical components.

The first edition of the new CQI-37 Safety Critical – Bulk Material – Catalog Item Management Guideline was published in May 2020.

The new CQI-37 standard can be purchased directly from AIAG.

You have the option to obtain the standard as either:

  • an e-document including the assessment, or
  • a printed hard copy with a downloadable assessment.
